How many Abilities and how many Passives can I bring into a single battle?

You are able to bring 8 abilities and 4 passives into a single battle. You may change these between fights easily by opening the Build menu.

What is a Modifier?

A Modifier is an attachment that you may use on your abilities changing their behavior or functionality. The modifier is changeable between battles, allowing you to change ability functionality easily without resetting your skill tree points.

What is the difference between a Passive and a Talent?

Talents and Passives are both ways to improve or change the functionality of your character or other skills. However, Passives require you to equip them before they take effect. You may only equip up to four Passives at a time. This allows us to make Passives more interesting and impactful. While the effects of Talents are automatically applied.

What is a Class?

Your class (Scholar, Warden, Ranger, etc) influences the core play style of your character in battle. Every character must select a class when they are created. You may not change your class, but each class currently does have two specializations that provide two unique flavors. You may split your points into either specialization freely.

How do you gain points for your Class?

As you level your character through completing quests and battle you will gain a skill point that you may spend in your class skill trees. You may also gain skill points for your class by progressing through the main story and completing feats.

What are the Elements, are they classes?

All classes share access to the Elements. To unlock an Element you must first find a Skill Shrine for that element in the world. The design of the Element system is to allow basic utility, roles and game-play to be available to all classes so your class decision does not necessarily reflect what you bring to battle (ie. anyone can tank, damage or heal).

How do you gain points for Elements?

After unlocking your first point for a given Element by visiting its Skill Shrine in the world (each usually locked behind a quest or challenge), you will be able to spend that point on an ability you can use in battle. As you use an element's abilities you will gain experience towards that element's level. On level up you will gain additional points you may spend. Elements may only be leveled up to level 10. The remaining skill points may be found by finding additional elemental Skill Shrines around the world.

What does Specialize on each Element mean?

You are able to level all elements to level 10 and therefore gain 10 points to spend. Specializing in an element allows you to increase the level cap to 20. You may specialize in two elements.

Will you be able to reset your skill trees?

Yes. Skill Trees for both classes and elements will be resettable. This will allow you to reallocate your points in a different manner if you change your mind. The ability to reset will cost in-game gold and if you do not have the gold you may use a cash-shop token.

What is the difference between Energy and Mana?

Energy and Mana are both resources you use in battle. Energy replenishes automatically based on your Speed stat. While Mana is more finite and may only be replenished directly through skills or potions.

What is Base Mana?

Your base mana is the mana you would have without any bonuses from your equipment, buffs, skills or talents. Basically the amount of mana you would have from simply leveling your character. The reason spells damage scales as you gear-up, and this allows the mana cost to be improved as you gear-up as well.

What is a Cell?

In battle all entities must stand in a cell. The enemies have their own cells across from you, while you and your allies have your own. You may freely move between friendly cells on your side of the battle screen during battle by spending energy. Movement is used for targeting and avoiding area of effect attacks. Standard enemies generally do not move, but special enemies do.

What does Across or Adjacent mean?

The cell directly across from you is referred to as across, while the cells on either side of that one are considered adjacent. This shorthand helps describe targeting and range easier.

What are those percents next to Spell Power, Attack Power or Healing Power?

In the skill tooltips you may see for example: (100% spell power). This is a shorthand that means that the ability will calculate its damage (or heal) based on that percentage of the specified power. The reason skills use a percentage of your power is to allow them to scale with you as you level up.

What is the difference between Casting and Channeling?

Casting a spell means you must focus your attention towards the spell and its result will not occur until casting is completed. This allows for you to change your mind or be interrupted before it casts without any mana penalty.
Channeling a spell means that its effect occurs with ticks over time. While you can cancel it or be interrupted before it finishes, the cost associated usually occurs immediately. You will not be able to do anything while casting or channeling.

What's the difference between Defense and Resistance?

Defense mitigates physical attacks while Resistance mitigates magical attacks.
